The painful arc is one of the easiest yet most indicative tests we do to screen for shoulder issues. Watch as Jack talks you through the process.
1๏ธโƒฃ Stand in front of a mirror
2๏ธโƒฃ Raise your arm out to the side with your elbow straight, aiming to get it alongside your ear
3๏ธโƒฃ Note the angle at which you feel any pain, discomfort or stiffness in the shoulder region
4๏ธโƒฃ If itโ€™s between 90 and 120 degrees, itโ€™s a positive painful arc test which could be an indicator of:
๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป Shoulder joint impingement
๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป Rotator cuff issues
๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป Frozen shoulder
๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป or a range of other shoulder issues
If youโ€™re getting shoulder problems, you know who to call.
