The ITB (ilio-tibial band) is a long, thick band of fascia that runs along the side of the thigh from the hip to the knee. It is a highly overused (and hence tight) muscle, due mainly to strength imbalances and the way we use our bodies in everyday life. This can lead to a range of painful conditions, most notably in the knee and hip.
Release of tension in the ITB may help to alleviate these symptoms, however it is essential that you get properly assessed by a health professional to determine if you have imbalances that need addressing.
Using the spiky ball as shown in the video above can help to give relief of ITB tightness, and may help to keep painful symptoms at bay until a longer term solution can be found if necessary.
